Capstone Project (in process), Spring 2011

An independent study in mixed media art by a 12th grade student. This student was working with images of nature while addressing environmental concerns. Artworks combined collage, assemblage, acrylic paint, photo-copied transparencies, linoleum block printing, photography, and drawing.

Student Artwork, Ensworth School, Drawing 1, 2010-2011


Drawing 1, Grades 10-12

Composition and Imagination Project: Students created four drawings using pencil of a single object of their choice. The drawings were based on four different themes: most informative view, enlargement, surprising situation, and geometric design. All drawings are 10" x 8".

Students created a still life drawing using pencil and marker of a set of common objects: a brown paper bag, two push pins, a roll of tape, scissors, and a sheet of blank paper. All drawings are 17" x 14".

Students created a drawing from a large still life set-up using charcoal. All drawings are 18" x 24".

Figure Drawing Project: Students began the project by doing a series of quick gesture and contour drawings of their peers using conte crayon. After a couple of classes doing some longer poses, students pieced together a larger drawing of at least five figures. Pastels and conte crayon were used on their final drawings.
