Student Artwork, The Key School: Drawing and Painting I, 2012-2013; Ensworth School: Painting 1, 2010-2012

Painting 1 and 2 (grades 10-12)

Students created a painting based on a collage they had made from magazines and color prints of master-artists' paintings. Once the canvas was covered with paint, they had to start to improvise and unify the different sections of the painting. Oil on canvas (16" x 20").

Painting 1 (grades 10-12)

Final project of the semester: students created a diptych painting based on the theme of "Heaven and Hell." Oil on canvas.

The second major oil painting. Students brought in family photographs to incorporate into the scene and style of a master artist. The images below show students working in the style of Thomas Gainsborough, Vincent Van Gogh, and Winslow Homer. All paintings are 24" x 18".
